Somali Region Police Finalize Security Preparations for Eid al-Adha and 7th General Election

The Somali Regional State Police Commission has announced the completion of comprehensive security preparations aimed at ensuring the peaceful observance of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations and the smooth conduct of the 7th General Election across the region.

A formal readiness review and operational parade were held on Monday at Jijiga Stadium, where senior officials assessed the strategic deployment and operational preparedness of regional police forces ahead of the two major events.

Speaking during the inspection, Yusuf Mohamud called on police personnel to maintain a high level of vigilance throughout the holiday and electoral periods.

He stressed the importance of ensuring public safety and preserving stability, while also urging officers to strengthen cooperation and trust with local communities as part of broader security efforts.

According to the commission, precautionary security measures have been implemented across all administrative zones of the region to address potential risks and support peaceful public gatherings during Eid al-Adha and the election process.

The police leadership also appealed to residents to cooperate closely with law enforcement authorities and continue the region’s tradition of community-based security collaboration.

Assistant Commissioner Yusuf Mohamud further encouraged citizens to promptly report any suspicious or unusual activities to the relevant security institutions in order to help maintain peace and public order across the region.
