The Vice President of Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State, Ibrahim Farah, held talks on Thursday with Indian investor Narendra Reddy, who is visiting the region to explore investment opportunities across key economic sectors.
According to regional authorities, the meeting focused on investment prospects in the energy and mining industries, with discussions aimed at identifying potential areas of cooperation that could support sustainable economic growth and create employment opportunities.
Regional officials said the visit forms part of broader efforts to attract domestic and foreign investment by promoting the Somali Region as a destination for business, supported by what they described as improving peace, political stability, and regional security.
During the meeting, Reddy expressed interest in the region’s investment potential, citing his previous business ventures in countries including Tanzania. He said he hopes to establish projects in the Somali Region that would contribute to its economic development.
The Somali Regional Government reiterated its commitment to creating a conducive investment environment through policies that emphasize transparency, cooperation, and investor confidence as it seeks to expand private sector participation in the region’s economy.
