The 2026 Africa Logistics and Communications Symposium (ALCS26) has officially opened in Addis Ababa, bringing together military delegates and defense officials from 40 African countries to discuss logistics, communications, innovation, and regional cooperation.
The symposium is co hosted by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and the Ethiopian National Defense Force. This year’s event combines the Africa Logistics Conference and Africa Endeavor into a single forum aimed at strengthening partnerships, improving operational readiness, and promoting collaboration on shared security challenges across the continent.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on July 27, U.S. Air Force General Dagvin Anderson, Commander of U.S. Africa Command, highlighted the importance of logistics and communications in military operations.
“This is the first time that we’ve combined both logistics and communications, but they are absolutely critical, as everyone knows, to military operations, and you can’t conduct operations without them,” Anderson said. “We don’t always invest in logistics and sustainment like we should. That is part of why we’re here: to highlight the importance of that foundational investment.”

According to U.S. Africa Command, the symposium provides a platform for participants to exchange experiences, identify innovative and scalable solutions, and strengthen cooperation in logistics and communications among African militaries.
The event is expected to include discussions on enhancing interoperability, improving sustainment capabilities, and addressing common operational challenges facing African defense forces.
