Parliament Approves New Board Members for Ethiopian Press Agency

Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives has approved the appointment of new board members for the Ethiopian Press Agency following a majority vote during its regular session.

Lawmakers reviewed the list of nominees before endorsing the appointments. The newly selected board members appeared before parliament and took their oath of office after the decision was passed.

State Minister at the Government Communication Service, Dr Mihretu Shanko, told parliament that the nominees meet the required academic and professional standards to support the agency’s mandate. He said the individuals were selected based on their experience and their understanding of national priorities.

According to the approved list, Blen Mamo has been appointed as chairperson of the board. Other members include Fedila Biya, Tesfaye Zewde, Mohammed Kassa, Afewerk Bedewi, Asma Redi, Yonas Bekele, Haftay GebreEgziabher and Dr Isayas Kassa.

The council approved the appointments after deliberation, with one abstention and a majority vote in favor.
