President Haji Awol Arba of the Afar National Regional State held talks with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative, Mr. Koffi Kouame, on efforts to strengthen healthcare services and expand access to essential health programs in the region.
According to the regional president, the discussions focused on improving maternal and reproductive health services, enhancing healthcare delivery systems, and expanding mobile health clinics to reach underserved communities across Afar.

President Haji Awol expressed appreciation for UNFPA’s continued support to the region’s health sector and highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation in addressing public health challenges.
The meeting also underscored a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between the regional government and UNFPA to advance healthcare access and improve the well-being of local communities.

UNFPA has been working in Ethiopia to support maternal health, reproductive health services, population data systems, and humanitarian assistance programs, particularly in areas facing development and access challenges.
