The Addis Ababa City Administration’s Women’s Rehabilitation and Skills Development Center in Lene Negewa has graduated 858 women who completed the fifth round of vocational skills and personal development training, integrating them into the workforce.
According to a statement from Mayor Adanech Abebe, the graduates had previously experienced homelessness, hardship, and various forms of social crisis.
The center provided them with vocational skills and personal development training aimed at helping them transition to improved livelihoods.
Mayor Abebe described the program as one of the city administration’s people centered initiatives, noting that it forms part of broader efforts to make Addis Ababa a city where social justice prevails and longstanding social fractures are addressed.
The statement indicated that, including the latest graduates, the center has now trained and graduated a total of 3,259 individuals, helping them enter the workforce and lead improved lives.
In her remarks to the graduates, the mayor acknowledged the difficult circumstances they had overcome and credited the skills and rehabilitation training they received at the center for their progress. She expressed confidence that the graduates would continue to overcome future challenges as they pursue success in their professional lives.
