Speaking during a nine-month performance review, Mayor Adanech Abebe said the ongoing transformation of Addis Ababa is turning the capital into both a symbol of prosperity and a center of international diplomacy.
The Addis Ababa City Administration reviewed its performance for the 2025/26 fiscal year, highlighting progress made across multiple sectors.
According to the mayor, the changes underway go far beyond physical beautification. They are reshaping the city into a reflection of modern political thinking and elevating it as a source of pride for Africans.
Reflecting on the vision of the Prosperity Party, she noted that its founding promise was to build a prosperous Ethiopia.
Mayor Adanech also pointed to a broader political shift, saying a new chapter has begun—one that moves away from cycles of revenge and opens space for formerly exiled political groups to return and engage peacefully.
The Mayor emphasized that the administration has worked to ensure Addis Ababa remains inclusive and belongs to all Ethiopians.
She further highlighted that the capital now ranks among the world’s leading diplomatic centers, strengthening its role as a hub for international conferences and peace-building efforts.
Looking ahead, the mayor stressed the importance of fostering a peaceful political culture and noted that efforts are underway to address differences through national dialogue.
She concluded by reaffirming that the drive to build a better, more inclusive Ethiopia for both present and future generations will continue with determination.
