Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) Chairman Abdikarim Sheikh Muse has congratulated Ahmed Shide Mohamed on his election as Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Peoples’ Representatives.
In a message shared on social media, Abdikarim described Ahmed Shide’s election as a historic development, noting that he is the first person from the Somali Regional State to be elected Speaker of the federal parliament.
The ONLF chairman said the election was a significant achievement for the Somali people and would bring a sense of pride and celebration to the community.
He further said Ahmed Shide’s appointment demonstrated the growing participation and role of the Somali people in federal institutions and in the country’s highest levels of decision making.
Abdikarim also expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other political stakeholders for creating what he described as a conducive political environment that enabled Ahmed Shide to assume the position.
Concluding his message, the ONLF chairman congratulated Ahmed Shide, the people of the Somali Regional State and Ethiopia on the development.
