The Association of Ethiopians and Ethiopian Origin Community in Kenya concluded its general meeting on July 25, 2026, after ratifying its bylaws and electing a new executive committee and council members to lead the organization.
The meeting marked the completion of a process aimed at establishing the association’s governance framework and selecting its leadership for the next term.
Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Kenya, General Bacha Debele Buta, attended the proceedings in his capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Kenya. During the event, the bylaws of the association were formally ratified.
According to information released following the meeting, Ambassador Bacha welcomed the successful conclusion of what was described as a lengthy process to establish the association’s governing structure.
The ambassador also encouraged the newly elected leadership to strengthen the association by developing diverse sources of revenue and increasing its financial capacity. He said this would enable the organization to better support Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian origin living in Kenya while contributing to the interests of their home country.
The meeting concluded with the election of the association’s executive committee and council members, who are expected to oversee its activities in the coming years.
