The University of Warsaw and the Tigray Culture and Tourism Bureau have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening academic cooperation, cultural preservation, and archaeological research between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed in Warsaw by Professor Dr. Hab. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, and Atsbha Gebreeziabher, representing the Tigray Culture and Tourism Bureau.

According to information shared following the signing ceremony, the partnership will focus on staff exchange initiatives involving universities in Tigray and the regional culture and tourism bureau. The collaboration is also expected to support academic capacity building and institutional cooperation between Ethiopian and Polish academic institutions.
One of the major components of the agreement is the continuation of historical and archaeological research projects at Negash, a site regarded as one of the most historically significant heritage locations in Africa. The partnership seeks to support long term research, preservation efforts, and scientific studies connected to the site.
The memorandum also outlines broader areas of future cooperation intended to strengthen cultural and scientific engagement between the two sides.
Following the signing ceremony, Atsbha Gebreeziabher presented his research at the Faculty of African and Asian Studies at the University of Warsaw, where discussions were held with academics and researchers working in related fields.

The event was attended with support from several academic and diplomatic figures, including Ilona Korchut, alongside scholars and researchers affiliated with the university.
The agreement is being viewed as part of broader efforts to expand international academic diplomacy and cultural cooperation between institutions in Ethiopia and Poland.
