Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — May 13, 2026 | Horn News Hub

The government of France is set to provide €54.6 million in loan financing to Ethiopia as part of ongoing bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.

The financing package is expected to support development priorities in key sectors, although detailed project allocations have not yet been publicly disclosed.

The latest financial commitment comes amid strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Addis Ababa and Paris, with both governments increasingly expanding cooperation in infrastructure, climate resilience, development financing, and regional security engagement.

France has remained one of Ethiopia’s major European development partners through concessional loans, technical support, and investment initiatives coordinated through French development institutions.

The announcement also follows renewed high-level engagement between Ethiopian and French officials aimed at deepening strategic partnership and encouraging broader European investment in Ethiopia’s reform and recovery agenda.
