In his statement, President Hassan extended New Year wishes to the people of Ethiopia and the region, expressing hope for peace, love and happiness in the coming year.

The president described the outgoing year as one marked by challenges alongside significant achievements. He noted that the year began with the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which he said demonstrated the country’s capacity not only to plan major projects but to carry them through to completion.

President Ashadli pointed to gains recorded in urban and rural corridor development, agriculture, mining, the Mesob one stop service centers, institutional reform and digitalization, saying these reflected continued progress toward the country’s economic development goals.

He also referenced the seventh general election held during the past year, describing it as evidence of citizens’ commitment to their country in the face of rumors and speculation, and calling its peaceful and successful conclusion a significant achievement.

According to the president, the year also marked a new chapter in resolving differences through dialogue among Ethiopians, a development he characterized as a success that could serve as a model for the continent and the wider world.

On regional priorities, President Hassan said continued focus on strengthening peace alongside development efforts had spurred notable progress, with tangible improvements recorded in residents’ living conditions.

He added that work to address public service concerns had continued through the Mesob one stop service centers, noting that five such centers have been established across the region, including one in Kamashi set to become operational soon.

Looking ahead to the new year, the president said efforts already underway to advance the country’s economic development would be pursued in a coordinated manner. He said the region would continue working to ensure lasting peace while converting its natural resource potential into development gains, including expansion of agro processing, gold, marble, coal, oil and flour production facilities.

President Ashadli further noted that the new year would see the formation of a new government based on the results of the seventh general election, stating that the incoming administration would be expected to deliver results in peace, development and good governance in line with public expectations.

He concluded by wishing the people of Ethiopia and Benishangul Gumuz region a year of peace, happiness, love, success, unity and prosperity.
