Jigjiga, Ethiopia โ President of Ethiopiaโs Somali Region, Mustafe Mohamed, has received a delegation led by Somaliland’s Minister of Investment and Industry, Saeed Mohamed, for discussions focused on investment, industrial development, and regional cooperation.
The meeting, held at the President’s office in Jigjiga, centered on exchanging experiences in investment promotion and industrial development. According to regional officials, the Somaliland delegation visited the Somali Region to learn from the ongoing efforts and initiatives being implemented in these sectors.

The discussions also brought together Ahmed Rashid, Head of the Somali Regional Investment and Industry Bureau, Ahmed Shukri, Head of the Regional Urban Development and Construction Bureau, along with members of the Somaliland delegation.
The visit reflects growing engagement between the two sides on economic development and knowledge sharing. Regional authorities have increasingly highlighted the Somali Region’s efforts to improve its investment climate through infrastructure development, institutional reforms, and support for private sector growth.

In recent years, Jigjiga has emerged as an increasingly important center for investment and industry in eastern Ethiopia. Regional officials attribute this progress to sustained efforts by the administration under President Mustafe Mohamed to promote peace, strengthen security, improve governance, and create an environment conducive to business and investment. These developments have attracted growing interest from investors and visiting delegations seeking to exchange experiences on economic development and industrialization.

The Somaliland delegation’s visit is expected to contribute to continued dialogue and cooperation on investment and industrial development between the two sides.
