Addis Ababa, 9 July 2026
The Executive Director of Ethiopian Youth for Peace and Development (EYPD), accompanied by a team from the organisation and representatives of the Lemi Kura Sub City Administration Women, Children and Social Affairs Office, including Women’s Participation and Benefit Team Leader Nuria Jamal, visited two vocational training institutes under the WE-Care project on 9 July 2026.

The delegation visited YOSAR Training Institute, where women are receiving fashion design training, and Helen Training Institute, where participants are undertaking hairdressing training. The visit provided an opportunity to observe the progress of the trainees and engage with participants on their learning experiences, achievements and challenges.
The trainees are women who have previously been engaged in domestic work, much of which was unpaid or provided limited financial returns. Through the WE-Care project, implemented by EYPD with the support of Oxfam in Ethiopia, the women have been enrolled in accredited vocational training programmes designed to strengthen their skills and expand their access to income generating opportunities in Addis Ababa.

During the visit, the Executive Director reaffirmed EYPD’s commitment to supporting women’s economic empowerment through skills development and vocational training. The discussions also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration with the Lemi Kura Sub City Administration Women, Children and Social Affairs Office to ensure trainees successfully complete their courses and are better positioned to pursue sustainable livelihoods.

EYPD and the Lemi Kura Sub City Administration Women, Children and Social Affairs Office stated that they will continue to monitor the progress of the trainees and provide the necessary support throughout the implementation of the training programme.
