Abrehet Ayele Nominated for AfBC African Women in Business Excellence Award 2026

Abrehet Ayele, Chief Executive Officer of Abri Business Group, has been officially nominated for the 2026 African Women in Business Excellence Award by the African Business Chamber (AfBC).

The nomination places her among leading African women entrepreneurs and executives recognised for driving innovation, building sustainable enterprises and advancing inclusive economic growth across the continent and the diaspora.

Abri Business Group has grown under Abrehet’s leadership into a diversified enterprise operating in electric mobility, construction and agricultural machinery importation, real estate development, transport services, cooperative finance, healthcare support, tourism, entertainment through Afro, technology and agricultural investment. The company has created more than 1,500 jobs, strengthening its footprint as a private-sector contributor to employment and enterprise development.

Her expansion into electric vehicles reflects a broader shift toward environmentally conscious transport solutions at a time when African cities are under pressure to modernise urban mobility systems.

Abrehet’s business journey, spanning more than two decades, has also been shaped by disruption. Agricultural investments, including honey production and irrigation projects in northern Ethiopia, were heavily affected during the two-year conflict in the region. Despite the losses, operations were gradually restored, and employment opportunities preserved, underscoring her resilience and long-term commitment to rebuilding.

Beyond commercial performance, she is known for philanthropic engagement and community-based initiatives that extend the company’s social impact.

The AfBC Business Award Gala 2026 is scheduled for 29 May 2026 in London, United Kingdom, where Africa’s “Top 100” leaders, professionals, officials, investors and entrepreneurs are expected to gather. The event aims to connect influential figures from across the continent with members of the global diaspora.

Horn News Hub extends its congratulations to Abrehet Ayele on her nomination and wishes her continued success as she represents Ethiopian enterprise on a continental stage.
