Ado Fertility Center Launches in Addis: Africa’s IVF Milestone

Ado Fertility Center Opens Second Branch in Addis Ababa, Expanding Access to Reproductive Care

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ado Mothers, Children & Life Fertility Center (ADO MCH & Fertility Center) has officially opened its second branch in Addis Ababa, marking a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s reproductive healthcare landscape. Located on Comoros Street, Ha Bet Building, 1st and 2nd floors, Woreda 07, Yeka Sub City, the new center brings specialized fertility and maternal health services closer to the nation’s capital, reducing the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment.

The expansion is a collaboration between some of Ethiopia’s most experienced embryology professionals Dr. Mandefro Delelegne, Dr. Eyasu Mekonen, and Mr. Tenaw Sisay working alongside renowned Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) subspecialist Associate Professor Dr. Abel Teshome. The initiative is designed to address the significant access gap in infertility care and support couples across Ethiopia seeking parenthood.

Strategic Impact on Access and Economy

By establishing a state-of-the-art facility in Addis Ababa, the center is expected to significantly reduce the financial and logistical burden for patients who previously had to seek treatment abroad. This localized access not only allows families to receive timely care but also has the potential to generate foreign currency inflows by attracting patients from across Africa who otherwise would have sought services outside the country.

The branch also creates employment opportunities for healthcare professionals, laboratory technicians, and support staff, further contributing to the local economy while strengthening Ethiopia’s capacity in reproductive medicine.

Training the Next Generation of Specialists

Beyond clinical services, the new branch strengthens ADO MCH & Fertility Center’s commitment to professional training. Accredited by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health and in partnership with international institutions, the center offers short-term and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and embryology.

Qualified healthcare professionals can now pursue advanced skill development locally, reducing dependence on costly overseas programs and addressing the long-standing shortage of reproductive health specialists in the country.

Leadership and Vision

The success of the Addis Ababa branch reflects the vision and leadership of Dr. Samson Mulugeta, CEO of Abri Business Group and Director of ADO Fertility Center, along with the dedicated support of his wife, whose partnership has been instrumental in realizing the center’s expansion. Together, they have championed initiatives that integrate clinical excellence with education, research, and community service.

The couple’s journey mirrors the center’s mission: overcoming challenges to build local capacity and deliver world-class care. Under their guidance, ADO has helped transform the lives of countless families, including couples who waited decades to conceive, offering hope where medical solutions were previously limited.

Looking Ahead

With the opening of its Addis Ababa branch, ADO MCH & Fertility Center strengthens Ethiopia’s position in reproductive healthcare, combining clinical care, professional training, and economic opportunities.

The center’s integrated approach serves as a model for locally grounded solutions that meet national health priorities, create jobs, and enhance access to life-changing fertility services.
