Abri Motors Announces Supply of Construction Machinery as It Hands Over Electric Vehicles in Mekelle

By Chekole Alemu

Abri Motors has announced the supply of construction machinery to the Ethiopian market while conducting its third electric vehicle handover ceremony in Mekelle, where 13 electric vehicles were delivered to customers.

The handover forms part of the company’s expanding operations in Tigray’s transport and investment landscape, according to the company.

Abri Business Group Chief Executive Officer Abrehet Ayele said the company’s activities now extend beyond passenger electric vehicles to include heavy duty construction and agricultural machinery supported by flexible financing arrangements. She noted that the financing options are intended to improve access to modern equipment for contractors and investors.

According to Abri Motors, the company is offering credit arrangements structured at 30/70, 40/60, and 50/50, enabling customers to acquire machinery through phased payments. The company said the scheme targets businesses operating in construction and infrastructure development.

Abri Motors also disclosed that it has signed a supply agreement with China’s Hunan Zoomlion International Trade Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. The agreement covers the supply of construction machinery and agricultural equipment under the same credit arrangements.

The machinery to be supplied includes mobile cranes, tower cranes, concrete pump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, and foundation drilling rigs, the company said.

Hunan Zoomlion International Trade Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd., a major Chinese manufacturer of construction and agricultural machinery. The subsidiary oversees the global export of Zoomlion products.

Zoomlion produces a wide range of equipment, including concrete machinery, cranes, earthmoving equipment, foundation machinery, aerial work platforms, and sanitation and environmental machinery. The company is China’s largest construction machinery manufacturer and ranks fifth globally.

Abri Motors is one of four authorized Zoomlion agents operating in Ethiopia and has entered into a long term partnership agreement to distribute the company’s products. The Mekelle handover event marks the latest step in Abri Motors’ efforts to expand electric mobility and industrial machinery access in northern Ethiopia.
