Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie has said the city administration is working to position the capital as a leading city for the international community while improving living conditions for residents.

In a New Year message marking the start of 2026, the mayor extended greetings on behalf of the Addis Ababa City Administration to ambassadors, international organizations, and members of the diplomatic community based in the capital. According to the statement, the city administration views 2026 as a year to deepen collaboration with international partners and further enhance Addis Ababa’s standing as a diplomatic and international hub. The mayor noted that ongoing efforts are aimed at strengthening the city’s role in global engagement while addressing the needs and expectations of its residents.
