Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State President Ashadli Hassen has reaffirmed the region’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities to Ethiopia following the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
In a statement marking the milestone, Ashadli said the regional government and the people of Benishangul-Gumuz remained committed to carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to them by the Ethiopian people and the federal government.
“We in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region, both the people and the government, reaffirm our readiness and commitment to carry out, today and tomorrow just as we did yesterday, the many responsibilities our country’s people and government have entrusted to us,” he said.
Ashadli also highlighted the region’s contribution to the national project, describing it as a shared achievement that reflects the collective efforts of Ethiopians across generations.
The GERD, built on the Blue Nile River in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region, is Ethiopia’s flagship hydropower project and a major component of the country’s ambitions to expand electricity generation and support economic development.
Ashadli’s remarks underscored the regional government’s stated commitment to contributing to Ethiopia’s national development priorities and collective achievements.
