Prime Minister Abiy Meets Djibouti’s Incumbent President on Inauguration Day, Reaffirms Bilateral Ties

Addis Ababa, May 9, 2026 (HNH) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has met Djibouti’s incumbent President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh in Djibouti today during the inauguration ceremony marking the beginning of his new term in office.

In a social media message, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed extended his congratulations and best wishes to President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh on his leadership and continued service to the people of Djibouti.

He also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries, emphasizing that the cooperation aims to advance mutual prosperity as well as promote peace and stability in the region.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed traveled to Djibouti this morning to attend the ongoing inauguration ceremony, where President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh is being sworn in for his sixth term in office.
