Ethiopian Parliament Extends National Dialogue Commission’s Term by Eight Months

The Ethiopian House of Peoples’ Representatives has extended the term of the National Dialogue Commission by eight months.

The decision was made during the first urgent session of the House’s fifth-year work term, where members reviewed the Commission’s performance report and discussed its future priorities.

Chief Commissioner Professor Mesfin Araya presented a report detailing the Commission’s activities over the past four years, including both domestic and international engagements.

The House’s Standing Committee on Democratic Affairs noted that the Commission’s work has provided a solid foundation for ongoing national dialogue processes.

The resolution to grant an additional eight months for the Commission to complete its remaining tasks was approved by full voice vote.
