The combined construction and equipping of these two healthcare facilities represent an investment of more than 482 million Birr. The new hospitals are expected to play a pivotal role in advancing medical services and significantly enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery for the local communities.

The regional administration has consistently prioritized the expansion and modernization of health services across the area. This strategic focus has facilitated the construction of multiple hospitals, health centers, and clinics. According to regional officials, the majority of these facilities are now fully operational and providing the intended services, while remaining projects are progressing steadily toward completion.

In a particularly notable milestone, both hospitals inaugurated today are being managed by female physicians.

This development marks a positive turning point in the region, highlighting the growing role of women in leadership positions within the healthcare sector and serving as an encouraging step forward for the medical community.

Concurrently, the Vice President of the Somali Region, Ibrahim Ousman, officially laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the Dhanaan Primary General Hospital. The new construction will encompass all standard departments required for a first-level general hospital, designed to operate in accordance with national healthcare standards.

Once completed, the expanded hospital is projected to address the long-standing medical needs of the Dhanaan district and its surrounding areas, significantly improving access for an estimated 100,000 residents. Officials emphasized that these ongoing efforts are aimed at providing efficient, high-quality care while drastically reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.

The regional administration revealed stark statistics demonstrating the transformation of the healthcare landscape. Prior to the current wave of reforms, only 9 hospitals were operational in the area. Following these investments, 23 new hospitals have been added to the roster, 12 of which have already been completed and are actively serving patients, while construction continues on the remaining 11. Several of these projects are currently in their final stages and are expected to commence operations in the near future.

In addition to infrastructure expansion, the government is intensifying its efforts to elevate the quality of service delivery. Authorities are focusing heavily on equipping hospitals and health centers with essential medical tools and technology. Furthermore, a major push is underway to bolster the availability of specialized medical professionals.

To this end, more than 80 locally born doctors have been sent for advanced training and specialization both domestically and abroad, ensuring that the new facilities are staffed by highly skilled experts.
