Addis Ababa, August 2026 — The Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands has handed over 232 motorcycles to regions under the Lowlands Livelihood Resilience Project Phase Two (LLRP II).
The motorcycles will be distributed to 116 woredas across seven regions, where the LLRP II is being implemented. The vehicles are intended to strengthen field operations and improve project implementation and monitoring.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, H.E. Mr. Tesfaye Yigezu, State Minister of the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands, said that the Ministry is implementing various projects aimed at developing Ethiopia’s lowland areas and improving the livelihoods of communities living in these areas.
The State Minister also noted that the motorcycles will provide important support in facilitating the implementation of these projects, particularly by improving mobility and access to remote project areas.
Mr. Seid Omer, LLRP II Project Manager , said that since the projects are being implemented mainly in rural and remote areas, the motorcycles will play a significant role in monitoring the services provided by the project as well as the infrastructure being constructed.
The Project Manager further emphasized that improved mobility will help project teams conduct regular field supervision, follow up on implementation progress, and ensure that project interventions effectively reach the intended communities.
