Addis Ababa, June 26, 2026 – The United States said it continues to monitor the political and humanitarian situation in Tigray, emphasizing that it is paramount for political and civil society leaders to engage in political dialogue and fully implement the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA).
According to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, those actively undermining the peace process should urgently cooperate with African Union-led efforts to promote dialogue.
The United States also reaffirmed its support for the delivery of critical lifesaving humanitarian assistance in Tigray, stating that long-term stability in the region would enable recipient communities to transition from emergency relief toward long-term self-reliance, locally owned capacity, and strengthened resilience.
The embassy added that it looks forward to engaging with local leaders and humanitarian implementers during a future visit to Tigray.
