Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — May 21, 2026 | Horn News Hub

The Somali Regional State has officially launched a nine month performance evaluation of its sector bureaus for the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year, regional media reported.

The review forum, organized by the Regional Bureau of Planning and Economic Development, began in the regional capital of Jigjiga with the objective of assessing the implementation of institutional plans and development activities carried out over the past nine months.

According to regional officials, the evaluation focuses on the progress of priority projects identified at the beginning of the fiscal year. Participants are reviewing completed activities, examining achievements recorded so far, and identifying challenges that delayed or hindered the implementation of planned programs.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, Somali Regional State Deputy Chief Administrator Ibrahim Ousman stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards in infrastructure development projects. He said infrastructure investments can only deliver sustainable benefits to communities when quality assurance is maintained throughout all stages of implementation, from project design to final completion and inauguration.

Officials attending the forum are also conducting assessments of institutional performance and discussing measures aimed at improving efficiency and addressing implementation bottlenecks during the remaining months of the fiscal year.

The evaluation forum is expected to continue over the coming days before concluding with strategic recommendations and directives for sector bureaus.
