Tigray IDP Crisis: TikTok Influencer Adonay Raises Over 12 Million Birr in 24 Hours
In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Tigray, TikTok influencer Adonay has successfully raised more than 12 million birr in just 24 hours to support displaced persons in the region. The funds, along with various food items and other essential supplies, were mobilized through a viral campaign that gained widespread attention on social media platforms.
Adonay, known for his advocacy and engagement on social issues, launched the fundraising effort following reports of severe hunger and deprivation at the Hitsats IDP camp, where hundreds of individuals, including children and the elderly, have died from malnutrition. His initiative quickly gained traction, with influencers, organizations, and everyday citizens contributing to the cause.
The funds and donated items will be distributed to various displacement sites across Tigray, where the situation continues to worsen. The success of the campaign highlights the growing role of social media in addressing urgent humanitarian needs, with individuals and groups leveraging digital platforms to provide immediate relief.
