Aviation Expo 2026 Opens in Addis Ababa, Marking 90 Years of the Ethiopian Air Force

Commander-in-chief and Prime Minister of Ethiopian Dr Abiy Ahmed officially opened Aviation Expo 2026 on Thursday as part of the celebrations marking the 90th anniversary of the Ethiopian Air Force.

Held under the theme “Flying Forward, Building a Shared Future,” the Expo brings together national and international partners to showcase advances in aviation technology, skills development, and institutional cooperation. The event highlights Ethiopia’s ambitions to strengthen its aviation and aerospace capabilities and to position itself as a regional hub in the sector.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew attended the opening ceremony, which forms part of the broader ETAF90 commemorations. In remarks shared during the event, the Prime Minister noted the Expo’s role in promoting collaboration and innovation across the aviation industry.

Organizers say the Expo reflects Ethiopia’s long standing investment in aviation, building on the historical legacy of the Ethiopian Air Force while looking ahead to future opportunities in aerospace development, training, and sustainable growth.

According to information shared on the Prime Minister of Ethiopia’s verified Facebook page, Aviation Expo 2026 is expected to feature a series of exhibitions, technical discussions, and partnership engagements involving both local institutions and international stakeholders throughout the duration of the celebrations.
