Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Meets Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Addis Ababa

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has received China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, at the National Palace in Addis Ababa, as part of a two day official visit to Ethiopia.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the visit is expected to focus on discussions around bilateral relations between Ethiopia and China, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. The talks come amid longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries, with China remaining one of Ethiopia’s key development and investment partners.
Wang Yi’s visit forms part of China’s broader diplomatic engagement in Africa, where Beijing has sought to strengthen political cooperation, trade, and infrastructure partnerships. Further details of the outcomes of the meetings are expected following the conclusion of the visit.
