Lion International Bank SC. Employees Provide Humanitarian Aid to IDPs

Employees of Lion Bank from the Ge’ez Region have provided humanitarian assistance to internally displaced people at the Adi Mehameday IDP camp, contributing more than 1.5 million birr collected from their monthly salaries.

According to information from the bank, the funds were used to purchase various food items and hygiene supplies, which were distributed to around 400 displaced individuals affected by acute food shortages. Representatives of the bank’s employees traveled to the camp and formally handed over the assistance on Thursday, Tahsas 16, 2018 E.C.

Staff representatives stated that the initiative is part of an ongoing effort by Lion International Bank S.C.employees to support communities facing humanitarian hardship. They noted that similar contributions have been made in the past and indicated that such support is expected to continue in the future.

Adi Mehameday is one of several displacement sites in North Western Tigray hosting people uprooted by conflict and instability, where access to food and basic services remains limited. Humanitarian actors and community based initiatives continue to play a role in addressing immediate needs at these sites.
