Lion International Bank Expands Presence in Tigray With Two New Branches
Lion International Bank S.C. has expanded its footprint in Ethiopia’s Tigray region with the opening of two additional branches its 355th in Finarwa city and its 356th in Zata district town. The move is part of the bank’s broader strategy to increase financial accessibility and support economic activity in recovering communities.
The Finarwa branch has officially begun offering banking services, a development the bank says is aimed at strengthening coverage in underserved areas. The branch will provide a full range of financial products, including deposit services, loan facilities, and digital banking options designed to modernize local transactions.

In Zata district town, the newly opened 356th branch has also started full operations. Community members describe Anbesa Bank locally known by its emblem as the most preferred financial institution in the area.

Bank representatives say staff have already undergone training to ensure efficient handling of core operations, including digital banking systems, customer support, and network services.
- Lion International Bank, established in 2006 and operational since 2007, has grown into one of Ethiopia’s competitive private financial institutions, now operating 356 branches nationwide.
