Horn News Hub expresses serious concern over the decision by Ethiopia’s House of Federation to remove five districts from the administrative oversight of the Tigray regional state ahead of the 7th general elections.
Ordering the National Election Board of Ethiopia to conduct elections in Humera, Adi Remets, Tselemti, Korem Ofla, and Raya Alamata outside Tigray’s authority, before resolving territorial claims, undermines constitutional order and regional representation.
Elections are meant to reflect lawful governance and public trust. In areas still affected by displacement, contested control, and fragile security, bypassing the regional administration risks deepening uncertainty and tension.
Horn News Hub calls on the authorities to reconsider this decision and provide a clear legal and constitutional framework for resolving ownership disputes. The integrity of Ethiopia’s electoral process depends on transparency, stability, and respect for regional governance.
