Horizon SACCO Officially Inaugurated in Mekelle

Horizon Saving and Credit Cooperative Society has officially been inaugurated, marking its formal entry into the financial services sector with a focus on economic recovery and financial inclusion.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by invited guests, community representatives, members, staff, and local residents. The event signaled the cooperative’s intention to expand access to savings and credit services while contributing to post conflict economic rebuilding.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairwoman Abrehet Ayele said the institution was established to mobilize savings, provide responsible and accessible loans, and strengthen financial discipline within the community. She noted that Horizon SACCO aims to support youth employment, empower women, and create opportunities for small businesses seeking capital to grow.

According to the leadership, the cooperative plans to offer structured credit services designed to encourage entrepreneurship and long term investment. The institution also intends to promote a culture of saving as a foundation for sustainable development.

Horizon SACCO’s management stated that the cooperative will operate with an emphasis on transparency, accountability, and member ownership, in line with cooperative principles.
