Ethiopia’s Ruling Prosperity Party Launches Manifesto and Electoral Symbol Ahead of 7th General Election

Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party on Tuesday unveiled its election manifesto and official electoral symbol as it steps up preparations for the country’s 7th General Election.

The launch was held under the theme “Ethiopia Towards an Exemplary Nation,” with the party adopting a sheaf of wheat as its electoral symbol. Party officials said the emblem reflects the Prosperity Party’s guiding philosophy of Medemer, emphasizing unity, cooperation, and collective strength.

According to the party, the sheaf of wheat also symbolizes productivity and sustainable prosperity. It conveys a vision of national development driven by hard work, balanced governance, and the effective use of the country’s resources. The party further described the symbol as representing blessing, balance of power, and shared progress.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by senior Prosperity Party figures, including Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, as well as party Vice President and Head of the Democratic System Building Center at the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, Adem Farah. Other senior officials and invited guests were also present.

Party leaders said the manifesto serves as a roadmap for engaging the public in the months leading up to the election, outlining the party’s priorities and policy direction.

The launch comes as Ethiopia prepares for the 7th General Election, scheduled by the National Election Board of Ethiopia for June 1, 2026. The Board has been implementing a series of measures aimed at strengthening the credibility and inclusiveness of the electoral process.

As part of these preparations, political parties have received training on how to effectively communicate their programs to voters. The Board has also introduced new digital systems, with candidate and observer registration to be conducted through dedicated software, while voter registration will combine digital and manual methods to ensure wider access.
