Ethiopia, Italy Discuss Cooperation on Irrigation Development
Addis Ababa — Ethiopia’s Minister of Irrigation and Lowland Areas Development, Abraham Belay(PhD), has held talks with Italy’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sem Fabrizi, focusing on potential areas of cooperation in irrigation development.
According to information from the meeting, both sides highlighted Italy’s long-standing experience in irrigation and its strong technical capacity in related construction and technological fields. The discussion underscored opportunities to strengthen collaboration through financial support, technology transfer, and capacity building.
The engagement reflects Ethiopia’s continued push to expand irrigation infrastructure, particularly in lowland areas, as part of broader efforts to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen climate resilience.
