CBE President Abe Sano Resumes Office After Medical Treatment Abroad
The President of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Abe Sano, has officially returned to his post after completing medical treatment in the United States, ending months of speculation about his leadership.
Abe resumed duties at the bank’s headquarters today, where he was received by senior executives and management staff. His reappearance comes after an extended medical leave that had fueled widespread rumors on social media claiming he would not return to office.
The absence of the head of Ethiopia’s largest commercial bank had triggered questions within financial circles, given the institution’s central role in the country’s banking sector and public finance system. However, bank officials confirmed that Abe has now fully resumed his responsibilities.
His return restores continuity at a time when the bank remains a key pillar of Ethiopia’s financial landscape, managing major public accounts and leading nationwide banking reforms.
