Addis Chamber appoints Two New Deputy Secretary Generals
Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce’s/ Addis Chamber’s/ Board has appointed Mr. Kassahun Mamo and Jemal Seid as the new Deputy Secretary Generals, effective as of February 20, 2026.
Mr. Kassahun Mamo has been named Deputy Secretary General for Business Development and Advocacy.
He has served the Chamber for the past 11 years, most recently as Director of Communication & Advocacy and Manager of Corporate Communication, External Relations, and Promotion.
The then veteran Business & Economic senior editor at the EBC was also a lecturer of urban and development economics at the AAU/EiABC for about 6 years.
Mr. Kassahun earned his MA degree in Development Studies/ RLDS/ from Addis Ababa University in 2009.
Mr. Jemal Seid has been appointed Deputy Secretary General for Membership and Institutional Development.
He brings extensive leadership experience, having served as CEO and Deputy CEO in various private companies, as well as dean and lecturer at several higher education institutions.
Jemal holds a background in Accounting and earned his MA degree in Development Studies from Mekelle University.
Established in 1947 G.C. (1939 E.C.), the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Associations is the oldest and one of the most prominent chambers of commerce in Ethiopia and Africa, serving the business community for nearly eight decades.
As a member of the World Chambers Federation, the Chamber holds a significant position within the global network of chambers.
The Chamber provides business development and advocacy services to support businesses in starting, growing, and expanding their businesses, while also playing a key role in representing business interests to the government.
The Board also recently appointed Mr.Zekarias Assefa as Secretary General, effective as of January 13, 2026.
