Abri Motors has completed its third round of electric vehicle handovers in Mekelle, transferring a total of 13 electric vehicles to customers as part of its expanding presence in Tigray’s transport and investment landscape.

According to the company, several of the vehicles handed over are four wheel electric taxis that are expected to help address Mekelle city’s transport service challenges and support the shift toward clean and sustainable urban mobility.

The handover ceremony was attended by senior regional officials, including Dr Atsebeha Gebregziabher, Head of the Tigray Culture and Tourism Bureau, and Tadele Mengistu, Head of the Tigray Transport Bureau.

Speaking at the event, Tadele Mengistu said Tigrayan investors engaged in investment related activities are playing a significant role in the recovery of Tigray. He noted that despite bureaucratic and structural challenges, their efforts have contributed meaningfully to economic revitalization. He added that the Transport Bureau encourages such initiatives and is ready to provide the necessary institutional support.

Abrehet Ayele, Chief Executive Officer of Abri Business Group, said the company believes that supplying imported and locally assembled vehicles, as well as construction machinery, can make a tangible contribution to Tigray’s economic growth. She acknowledged that the process of importing vehicles remains difficult and demanding, but said the company was able to overcome these challenges and deliver vehicles to customers for the third time.

She also stated that Abri Motors is actively creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people, as part of its ongoing operations.
